You can feed someone breakfast, lunch, and dinner for almost a week with a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, and a pound of couscous. Peanut butter, nuts, and chia seeds are gluten-free, shelf-stable sources of protein, while couscous is low-fat, low-sugar, and cooks in minutes without electricity. These are easily prepared, versatile, and vegan. Sweeteners and seasoning packets are small luxuries that help keep meals from becoming too repetitive in flavor. These are our favorite food items to receive because it lets us provide meals for a week, rather than just the one night that we encounter the person.
Canned goods with the pop tops are preferred but not required.
